Faith of Dieterra
The faith of Dieterra is varied, and very disorganised. There is no great High Church, or any leader at all. Instead, the temples and churches of Dieterra operate on a loose basis. Those within a realm will work together, usually, very well. The Dark and Moon aspects of her faith will often disagree, but sometimes operate as the same church (for example, it is rumoured that the faith in Tarsis City are the same, whether Dark or Moon). In other areas the two sides of the faith are run by different people, and in some small examples, actively oppose each other vigorously.
Clerics of Dieterra are just as varied. Some are great healers (such as the Sisters of Silence), others are astrologers, or adventurers, others thieves or assassins. Some are bards and great performers, others prostitutes or low-born street-scum. The greatest of lords and ladies, and the least of their servants, will count amongst Dieterra’s worship.
Particularly amongst the catfolk, and the fay’ki, obeisance to Dieterra who they consider their creator, is most common.
The elves observe worship of Dieterra, but they tend to use her elven name, Sehanine Moonbow of the Seldarine.
Tenets of Faith
- Protect Torthe at all costs.
- Nature is never to be sacrificed for wealth.
- All creaturefolk are hers, to be protected at all costs.
- Those who approach with honesty and without guile to our clergy are not to be taken advantage of.
- Those who approach with dishonesty have begun the great game, and may be played with.
- Work for Dieterra under the stars brings her great pleasure.
- Avoid taking risks at full noon, for this is when her gaze is pained.
- The way of Kharasaki is to destroy what makes us whole – oppose them.
- Live, laugh and love.
Priesthood
Ranks within the priesthood:
Each temple or church organisation has its own ranks.
Approach to internal conflicts:
Dieterra’s clerics are free to trick or deceive each other. They are discouraged from killing each other, but if needed it is permitted.
Sects
Notable people:
Lady Silver Birch
The High Priestess of Dieterra, in the tribe of fay’ki in Heartglade, in Arden.
Julietta Shard
Few have seen Julietta Shard, a High Priestess of Dieterra deep within the confines of Kharasaki. She heads up a resistance against the overbearing rules and law that make it hard for the mischief and works of Dieterra to take place. She is a living legend, having escaped trap after trap by the agents of Kharasaki to take her captive.
Shadow Master
None, or few, know who this figure is. He is assumed to be male, but even that is doubted sometimes. He heads up the largest temple to Dieterra (temple in organisational sense, not building), in imperial Estol, working to ensure that realm is nudged towards activities that oppose the Blight, and that ensure freedoms for its people are protected at all costs.
