Attolony, the Keeper of the Evercalm Sea

The title of the Keeper of the Evercalm speaks for itself. According to local beliefs, Atollony is a powerful nature spirit responsible for keeping the Evercalm Sea's waters pleasantly quiet and preventing any significant storms there. His powers do not go beyond his territorial domain, but he is revered on the Blessed Shores since their population's well-being largely depends on the Evercalm Sea and its riches.

Legends say that Attolony is the collective desire for good, unconsciously formed by the living creatures inhabiting the Evercalm Sea. Although the sea waters were never particularly stormy, they were also quite poor regarding vegetation and breeding environments for their inhabitants. Many creature types had a death rate much bigger than the birth rate, and before long the situation became critical - only a few species were not endangered by extinction. This resulted in an unconscious, desperate wish for survival, supported by thousands of different primitive sea dwellers - and in the following emergence of a Sea Spirit.

Known interactions

Rumors among people of Blessed Shores say that Attolony has been seen a few times, even though not everyone believes the testimonies of fishermen and sailors. The few humans who supposedly saw Atollony describe him as a young male walking on the water, featuring simple seaweed decorations. Usually, Atollony appears when some message should be passed to the sea guests - for example, they should avoid some particular area or stop an activity unpleasant for the sea inhabitants. It is told that humanoid appearance is barely a courtesy for lowly strangers- the Attolony's "real" guise is far beyond what land dwellers could comprehend.

Followers and clergy

The ship clerics of the Evercalm Sea mostly revere Attolony granting them safe travels in his waters. Blessed Shores also have the coastal churches devoted to the Keeper and divine-oriented part of Blessed Guardsmen perform the Attolony Rites when the situation is related to the sea waters (or just the control of aquatic creatures and environment). Obviously, the vast majority of the faithful reside by the seashore, but even further to the landmass people understand the importance of Attolony to the lives of mortals around here. To honor the Keeper, it is customary to remove trash from the sea and its shores, to release individual inhabitants deemed important to the sea environment, and to ritually provide food to sea dwellers.
