Session 02: Into Neverwinter Report

General Summary

SOUTH GATE, NEVERWINTER

Having just paid 35GP for one week to park the wagon off to the west of the gate, the party and Lysander Nenuial head into the city.

OVERCITY MAP of NEVERWINTER

Upon entering, they see a range of locals going about there daily activities. A beggar welcomes them as they enter with a request for some coin.

Seeing down a long street with others to the left and one to the right, they decide to head forward to what might be a central part of the Protector's Enclave of Neverwinter.

Moving along, with the intent to make their way to the Driftwood Tavern, donaar ironhide tries to remember where the Order of the Gauntlet is as that is where his paladin mentor was originally from. Unfortunately, he is not able to remember but the party proceeds along the same direction.

Eventually, as they get closer to what now appears to be the center of town, Nyx Ningel is able to remember that the large building they are approaching is actually the Order of the Gauntlet. However, the party decides to wait for a visit until after they visit the Driftwood.

The party chooses to head farther northwest and, as they do, they see a large statue in the center of what appears to be the Seven Sons Coster Market. Dakari Akinjide is able to recognize the statue as that of Waukeen. She was a lesser deity of wealth and trade in the Faerûnian pantheon. The Merchant's Friend was venerated and appeased by not only merchants, from lowly peddlers to the wealthy owners of trading companies, but investors, accountants, entrepreneurs, caravan guides, warehouse owners, philanthropists, deal-makers, moneylenders, and other such individuals.

Now heading further towards the docks, they pass what Dakari realizes is the Hall of Justice.

Upon reaching the docks, they turn to head north past the Sleeping Dragon Bridge that leads to the damaged Castle Never. Countless Neverwinter Guard are stationed around the base of the castle so the party heads west.

Heading west, they now arrive at another section of the docks where they then see both the Driftwood Tavern and the Beached Leviathan. As planned, they head into the Driftwood.

DRIFTWOOD TAVERN

Upon arriving and entering into the tavern, they encounter a number of the Wintershield Watch. Then, they soon meet Madame Rosene who is clearly the manager of the Driftwood.

The party winds up negotating two nights of stay for 20GP/night which the party pays other than Lysander who helps to perform to get a room. The room is very nicely outfitted with three beds, a couch and chair and a large fireplace. As well, there is a curtained eating area that leads from the main hall into the living quarters.

Ever the host, Madame Rosene offers everyone some free ale and encourages the party to relax, meet some patrons, etc. However, as the barmaid starts sliding the ales down the bar, Miramenor Starsinger missing catching the mug which crashes to the floor. Rosene's dog Scampers quickly comes from under the bar to lick up the mess. Nyx also just misses the ale that slides towards her but Miramenor is quick and catches it.

While looking at the room, the dragonborn fighter Tharvas comes to chat with donaar ironhide. Happy to see another dragonborn at the tavern, Donaar is invited over to Tharva's table to chat with his friends.

Shortly after, Lysander heads over to Chossis who is the main tavern bard. Lysander proposes a performance competition and the two agree to a 50GP wager for the winner.
