Session 01: On the High Road to Neverwinter Report

General Summary

THE HIGH ROAD
On the morning of Day 18 of the party's adventures, they set out from Phandalin in a comfy wagon secured by Sildar Hallwinter. The goal for their current travels is to deliver Varis Leyonadas to Neverwinter where he will be imprisoned for crimes committed against Phandalin's townmaster Harbin Wester. LYSANDRA'S WAGON

After a long day of travelling, they make their rest and then head out on Day 19 to continue towards Neverwinter. A number of miles closer towards the city, the party encounter's a mysterious woman who reveals herself to be Lysandra the Oracle.

Led by Dakari Akinjide and Nyx Ningel, the conversation turns to Lysandra being curious about their travels but also welcomes everyone to come to her home.

Sildar, who is supporting the wagoneer transporting Varis in the jail wagon, decides to continue forward towards Neverwinter since the party seems interested, though cautious, about talking more with Lysandra.

After a short while, the party makes their way to Lysandra the Oracle's Wagon but remains unsure if they can trust the woman.

Carefully reviewing the interior of Lysandra's home, though it is unclear of her true origins, the woman is clearly a seer whose work focuses on those coming and going from Neverwinter. Many oddities lie in her home revealing items she has likely collected for many years.

Lysandra does share that an odd man wanders in the forest nearby and she wouldn't mind some help with him. He mumbles odd things to himself and is often seen scratching his skin frantically. She does not know what ails the man.

As the party continues to talk with Lysandra, she has a vision for donaar ironhide and tells him, "Strength lies not just in might but in resilience. You will find yourself tested not in fire, but in the shadows it casts. Steel yourself, for the weight you bear will grow heavier before the dawn."

Shortly after, the sound of odd viol music is heard coming from outside. Lysandra rushes to see who is making the noise and it is discovered that Lysander Nenuial the bard has also stumbled upon the group.

Lysander introduces himself to the group and he seems interested in making his way with them up to Neverwinter. However, the party remains suspicious of him and will not readily allow him to ride with them in their wagon.

Lysandra soon has another vision but this time for Lysander. She reaches out and says to him, "Your path is intertwined with shadows and flames. There are secrets both ancient and dangerous. I see a crossroads in your future, where choices will burn as brightly as the fire they worship. Beware the allure of power that might be promised. Your path is not just of enlightenment but also of peril."

After some discussion, the party decides that they will continue onward towards Neverwinter but Lysandra gives the group a final vision as they set out by saying, "A gathering of flickers. The ember waits for the flame to feed it. Watch carefully, for small fires left unattended become blazes that consume, and there are those who know just how to fan the flames."

The party allows Lysander to travel with them to the city but requires that he walk alongside the wagon rather than with them.

NEVERWINTER SOUTH GATE

After a few more hours of travel, the group reaches the south gate of Neverwinter. A large number of guards can be seen standing at the ready as their wagon approaches.
