Durgeddin's Stronghold

In the 12th century DR, the dwarven smith Durgeddin the Black carved a secret stronghold from the caverns riddling a mountain known as the Stone Tooth, high in the Nether Mountains. Labouring ceaselessly in their halls under the mountain, Durgeddin’s clan forged enchanted weapons for use in their vendetta against the orcs that had driven them out of their old homes. Durgeddin and his followers are long dead, but the dwarf-hold is not empty. Deadly peril waits in the caverns beneath the Stone Tooth, as well as Durgeddin’s hidden armory of matchless weaponry.

History

In the 6th month of 1381 DR, a band of adventurers seeking knowledge came together in Khundrukar. The wizard Whitefyr had received a vision to go to Durgeddin's stronghold in search of wisdom hidden in its depths. On the way, he hired a human fighter, Tagard, to guard him along the treacherous paths heading into the Nether Mountains. They encountered a drow rogue, Dres, and a gnoll cleric, Shareek, one seeking adventure, the other seeking stories. And they together met Nargol, an orc ranger. This unlikely group delved deep into khundrukar, defeating orcs and deep gnomes, and fighting off the black dragon that had lived in its cavern lake.
They found the knowldge they sought, but could not understand it. And so their quest continued.
