Session 18: Entering the 2nd Niptu Temple Report

General Summary

Session 18 – Wednesday November 16, 2022 – Entering The 2nd Temple of Niptu

4 Hour Battle session 5:30 PM to 10:00PM

The Stone Bearers. Party of 6:

It is the 30th day of the month of Marpenoth (Leaffall) in the 50th year of the Age of Enialis (Late October.)

A Trap in the water

Abrash, wild shaped as a Shark, helped pull the raft down the river. On the 2nd day of travel late at night, he spotted a light rope strung the stream just a couple inches below the water line. He guided the raft towards the shore and dropped his shape to tell the party. The party stopped the raft and began investigating. Gazlowe stuck a magical light under the water to help illuminate the situation. Isabella walked into the water and up to the rope. She tugged on it and 4 harpoons were shot directly at her. They glanced off her body only slightly wounding her. The party disconnected the rope, gathered 2 of the harpoons and continued down the river on the raft.

The party arrived early (around 5 AM) to where they thought the cave will be. Both Thomas and Abrash were awake and guiding the raft. For some reason Thomas’s empty eye socket was glowing blue and he was seeing double but that quickly faded. They landed the raft a short way away from where they knew the cave entrance would be. With his crossbow lit, Thomas went alone to scout the area ahead. Abrash woke the others. Gazlowe sacrificed Bitey to power up his armor a bit and Ajani checked his makeshift sock drying rack to be sure his socks were okay. Cedrik warmed his hands over the fire in Gazlowe’s pot. Thomas came back and told the group that the cave was guarded by 10 zombies with necrotic ticks.

Zombies and ticks

The party floated the raft closer, and Thomas walked along the shore with his lit crossbow. The zombies saw the light and moved towards him. Isabella took out one zombie and its tick. The tick exploded and she became covered in black ichor. The zombies attacked Isabella and two ticks attached to her. Ajani grabbed the pot of Fire from the raft and ran past the zombies, getting their attention. Thomas took out 2 zombies and both of their ticks with a crossbow bolt. Ajani was attacked by 2 of the zombies and one of the ticks attached to him Cedrik took out one of the Zombies with a boomerang. Abrash took out one with his thorn whip. The zombie’s tick floated down the river. Isabella smashed one of the ticks on her. A zombie attacked her, and another tick became attached to her.

Ajani telekinetically shoved one of the zombies away and then destroyed 2 zombies and their ticks with his chromatic orb. Gazlowe fired magic missiles at the 3 attached ticks but didn’t quite kill them. Thomas took out the 2 ticks on Isabella with his crossbow. Abrash killed another zombie with his thorn whip. Isabella killed a zombie with her axe. Ajani took out his dagger and removed the tick sucking his blood. Gazlowe killed the last zombie and its tick with his gauntlet. Cedrik spotted the tick floating down stream and took it out with a shot from his boomerang.

The Clearing of death

The party noticed that the entire clearing smelled of death and all the plants, and trees in the immediate area were dead. Abrash and Gazlowe wrestled for control of the fire pot. Gazlowe was able to wrestle it away saying “Mine, my precious.” Abrash went to the edge of the clearing and built a fire. He looked for signs of life and found there were no creatures close to the clearing of death. The party inspected the area. They didn’t find much more than a number 2 on the side of the cave door and that the door was again a metal door covered with a veneer of stone. They waited for a couple hours, and the door opened up.

Cavelight Moss

The party walked into a small chamber. There was a door on the other side next to a plaque that read “Be out before nightfall.” Isabella opened the door and they walked into a larger chamber. The chamber was a natural cave. Patches of tangled, lacy moss clung to the ceiling, slowly pulsing with an eerie glow. Their stems gently writhed among the soft, feathery mass, dusting the ground below with a twinkling of phosphorescent spores. Enchanted by the light Abrash walked forward and touched it. The dangling vines formed a club and attacked him and grappled him.

Thomas dashed across the room and found the other door locked. The first few attacks from the party missed the moss but Isabella landed a blow with her axe. However, she saw that the slashing damage didn’t do as much as she hoped. Abrash turned into a Black bear. Gazlowe started to break the door down. Thomas hit the Moss with a bolt and Cedrik hit it with his boomerang. Ajani hit the moss with a flaming chromatic orb, but the fire didn’t do as much damage as he expected. The moss grappled Ajani and drained his strength a bit leaving him with 1 level of exhaustion. Isabella went into a rage and finished breaking open the door. Abrash the black bear attacked the moss but didn’t free himself. Thomas hit moss with another bolt and killed it.

Cedrik pulled down some moss from the cave and found nothing behind it. Gazlowe gathered a few chunks of the moss so he and Abrash could examine it later. Ajani took 10 berries from Abrash’s sack to heal himself. The party continued through the 2nd door into a new room. The room was larger, and the walls were made from carved stone. The Floor sloped down and the far side was filled with water and no visible exit. They examined the murky water. Cedrik sunk his drift globe into the water and saw it was about 20 feet deep. Thomas swam down to the bottom and found a door but then something moved in the sand at the bottom.

Cavefish Zombies

Four undead creatures moved to Thomas. Isabella used the harpoon and hit one of the zombies. One of the Zombies hit Thomas. Gazlowe fired a firebolt at the zombies, but it did minimal damage. Abrash the bear went into the water and the zombies struck him. Cedrik stuck his head in the water and cast dissonant whispers on one of the zombies, it moved away and Abrash the bear hit it with an opportunity attack. Isabella swam down and opened the door. The bear was hit again, and Thomas swam into the next room. These Zombies were very resilient.

One of the zombies swam after Thomas and slammed Thomas on his back. Thomas was just barely able to keep holding his breath. Ajani cast ray of frost on one of the Zombies. Gazlowe swam down and smashed a zombie in the head with his gauntlet. Abrash the bear ripped into the same Zombie with his teeth and claws. Cedrik again cast dissonant whispers on a zombie near him, as the zombie moved, he hit it with his boomerang. Isabella slashed into the zombie attacking Thomas. One of the Zombies hit Abrash the bear.

Thomas swam to the far end of the 2nd room, opened a door and swam into a 3rd room where the water was much colder. Finally, Gazlowe finished off one of the zombies with his gauntlet. One of the zombies swam up to the surface and attacked Cedrik. Cedrik viciously mocked the zombie. Another Zombie hit the bear again, wounding it horribly. Isabella bloodied one of the Zombies. Thomas obliterated a zombie with a critical hit from his crossbow. Ajani hit one of the zombies with his ray of frost and Gazlowe finished it off with a punch from his gauntlet. The last zombie swam up and hit Cedrik's foot. Cedrik responded with Vicious mockery, killing it finally!

Ice-cold

In the 3rd room, Thomas swam up and hit a sheet of ice covering the top. Shivering in the cold water he fired a bolt through the ice. Ajani hopped on to the back of Abrash the badly wounded bear (only 4hp remaining.) The others swam through the water towards Thomas. Thomas, tried to cast a spell to break the ice but it didn’t work. Isabella swam into the last room and then up and broke the ice. Thomas, shivering in the ice-cold water gained a level of exhaustion. He swam up to the surface and took a deep breath but was unable to climb up on the cracking ice. Gazlowe also rose in the cold water, and he failed to climb up on the ice, but he broke a path to the shore. Thomas gained a 2nd level of exhaustion from the cold water but was able to get out. Soaking wet, they moved onto the shore in the room and saw the walls covered with a brown Mold…

• Locate the Shield of Niptu and find where they’re hiding Niptu’s Body
• Disintegrate Niptu’s Body and let Revalor Miadi know. Revalor is hiding with family at cottage along the Delimbiyr River between Zelbross and Loudwater.
• Train the Hellhound Johny Cash
• Purchase the Firestone Keep and rebuild it.
• Gazlowe not happy with helm purchase
• Party to utilize the herbs Abrash and Ajani found.
• Gazlowe to make a permanent mayonnaiser for Flicktongue
• Restore Abrash and Ajani’s homeland.
