Great Wasteland

The great wasteland lies in the north of the continent. It is a vast and empty place. Only few living things exist here and even less want to stay. Calling it hard and unforgiving would be a understatement. Even if you plan everthing and all goes perfectly fine, could you die in this area. Normal people should never enter the wasteland. Also the best of the best should think their decision through.
Shakla-Tah lies nealry entirly inside the wasteland, pushed back by the other nations. A place no on wants to claim and let them have it.

Geography

Once far back in the past it was a cold landscape with life used to the cold climte. With forest and grasslnds which where coverd with thick snow during winter and presented their beauty during summer days. Animles wandering and hunting, living their best up here. But none of that is there now days.
Nowadays the wasteland is mostly dry soil with nothing living on it. Most of the hills and mountains collapsed into itself, making the wasteland a mostly flat area. Sometimes even compared to oceans. Only three areas in the entire wasteland stick out and are considerd interesting. The unnamed mountain range in the west. The giant lake with it's two rivers and the butte forest in the north east to east.
Not much is know about the unnamed mountain range. Not many people tried to reach it and less returned. What is know is that throughout the range massiv holes formed in semingly impossible locations. The hills and mountains are brittle and easly break away, pose great risk for anyone climbing or traveling through this region.
The miraculous giant lake, north of the Shakla-Tah, Tulem, Ronderon Border, is the only source of water inside the great wasteland. From the river originate two rivers. One natural flowing up north into the ocean. The other river was created over time. It was created from a former traderoad connecting the only two permanent settlements in the wasteland with the rest of the world. The road collapsed and created a samm channel, on which rafts and boats are used.
The butte forest in the northeast persumed to be artificial. Many belive they are remnants of the battle between one archdemon and the dragonlords, ginormous spears. The only thing that won't rot away in the wasteland. In the south east of the forest lies the demon Hole. The point on which the first demon poured into torika.

Ecosystem

You can call the wasteland dead during it's best days. Even the strongest and most resilient extremophiles cease to exist not far away from the border. The air and ground seems to suck out life from everything. Simple plants like grasses and mosses only survive at the border and more complex ones like shrubs and trees are non existend.
A small system developed around the giant lake. With few planets and animels, not able to wander far away from the lake, living a fast paste life of life and death. Around the lake exist the fastes growing animals. For small animals like insects adaulthood is reach in days and for vertebrates the scale is a few weeks. Compared to other lifefrom on torika the animals feel underdevloped and proportional incorrect.
The plants on the other hand grow only slightly faster.
