The Seven and One

The heroes who saved the world from the gods, and the villains who shattered the world in the Ascended War, are one and the same. The Archmage, supreme master of the Arcane. The Divine, leader of the old religions turned to the destruction of the gods. The Warlord, bandit ruler turned supreme general. The Captivator, a minstrel and grifter with talents to blind even the gods. The Shadow, who could hide in any light. The Tranquil, who cared nothing for the worldly glory granted by the gods. The Possessed, who had long since cast away anything tying them to this world.
Though only seven are listed, and their names are long since lost, the Seven and One are always called such. No one knows who the last is, or why they were called the Seven and One. Many still respect the Seven and One for what they did, but there is fear as well, for they were the first to fall to the Ascendance. The war they wrought between themselves nearly destroyed the world, and few can put that far from their minds either.
