Marwolaethau (Mar-woah-lie-thou)

Historians believe that all of the trueblood Si'yl were killed during the Ascendancy War. There are some small footnotes among all of the dead and dying, cities crushed, battles fought with casualties in the millions, that the Blessed had slain the SI'ylan royal family and placed herself as the new ruler of the Empire. There are second, third, or fourthhand stories of the Possessed killing any Si'yl who wouldn't join his cause. Of it all, historians agree, the Si'yl were all killed and only their descendants remain. 
Historians are usually correct. In theory.
Marwolaethau is not the average murdered Si'yl from the lost age. Unlike most, he failed to die properly. His spirit is bound into the Lichyard of Ars Silica, siphoning power from the city's necromantic engines to retain his consciousness even after his death. Arrogant, self-righteous, and frightfully intelligent, the Si'ylan ghost is willing to trade anything and everything for help with his experiments.
He has a soft spot, such as it is for one of the Si'ylvalvalosh, for those of his race who time and dilution of their blood has rendered them a pale imitation of their true prowess and beauty. Though normally a calculating businessman who delights in squeezing every copper out of a deal, when it comes to those lost children Laethau is remarkably willing to give aid and advice. 
After all, the difference between a paleblood and a trueblood is simply how far they're willing to go to achieve their goals.
