Varrenholm Overview

Varrenholm is a Protectorate of Summerlund, falling within the former territory of the Grand Duchy of Osterlund . Despite this status, it is considered independent and the Warforged who live there consider themselves citizens of Varrenholm over Summerlund. This small but important difference causes some friction between the two bodies, although the relations between the people of Varrenholm and the nearby town of Seowyn's Crossing are very warm and cordial thanks to the events around the Battle of Worldbreaker's Howe.

When the Tarrasque was rampaging across Aldorath in late 1081 SKR, it was discovered it was destroying sites created by the Weavers, and it was assumed it would wreak havoc in places like Firsthome and the achaeological site of Greathome. The Warforged retreated from these places to avoid destruction, then marched with the armies of Summerlund to Worldbreaker's Howe to fight the armies collected by the Five Who Call. After the battle ended, they petitioned the newly crowned King Tristan Holdfast Tarmoore for independence. It was decided the lands of the Broken Barrows would be named an independent Protectorate of the crown, and the Warforged gave it the Weaver name "Varrenholm" which is "The Home Which Is Ours".

The Warforged carefully guard the secrets of the Weavers, especially as the last living Weaver, Selentai, continues to reside with them. Selentai refuses to take any title, however, and, so far, the Warforged have been living with Chime as their elected leader. Chime carefully selects what they can and can't export, and so most exports from Varrenholm take the form of minerals and crafted goods.
