Rabbit

You know how it is. You're going along, minding your own business, hunting your favorite dinner. You hear some noises and find a group of Adventurers in battle with a group of bandits. You figure better the food at hand than no food at all, so you start forward, ready to snag your supper.

The next thing you know, however, you're caught in the crossfire of the magics of an aventuring Druid and one of the bandits who's a wild magic Sorcerer. The next thing you know, you can speak...and think! So you help the adventurers rout the bandits. The Druid is stunned, as he says the kind of magic that "awakened" you (not that you felt sleepy) shouldn't have worked on you, and it must have been a surge of wild magic that made it possible. But there you are...the first sapient owlbear in the history of Tol.

You like the druid and his friends, so you go with them and help them with a number of adventures. Eventually, though, you decide that adventuring isn't really the life for you. So your friends give you your share of the gold they've been collecting. Turns out there's quite a bit! You say your farewell and decide to follow your new dream...to open a tavern.

You find an existing one on the Crownways that lead from the Principality of Sudwaine to the great city of Estwald, almost right in the middle. When you and your friends had paused here before, you'd liked the place, and the tavern keep had said he was thinking of returning soon. So you make him an offer, which he accepts. Some remodeling and rethemeing happens, and you reopen the place as the Owlbear's Roost.

And you? Well, you decide to name yourself after your favorite food. So you're Rabbit. Your manners may be a bit...rustic...but you're friendly, if intimidating to some. And your uniqueness gives you a charm people find a novelty to experience. Not to mention your love of singing in the moonlight. And your adventurer friends stop in whenever they can, so you're not lonely.

So your life may be very different than it was meant to be, but you don't have any regrets.

It's good to be you.
