Harbryn Thonwyr
Harbryn Thonwyr is the eldest son of Hadyn and Eleanor Thonwyr, the former King and Queen of Summerlund. He has been publicly named Crown Prince of Summerlund and Duke of Estshar. He is the older brother of Prince Ullyn and Princess Shairi.
Harbryn is very much his father’s son. As a young man who was keenly aware of his duty to someday be King of Summerlund, he studied history, tactics, warfare, and personal combat. He is a serious and sober young man who seems much older than his years. He has the dark hair common among House Thonwyr, and has grown a small goatee to try and look older.
Perhaps keenly aware of the prophecy spoken by Threnody about his house’s fate, Prince Harbryn seems determined to make a mark in Summerlund’s history. He set his sights on retaking the island of Sudwaine from Orc control, and he called upon the Fire Wasps to aid him.
Following the successful liberation of Sudwaine in the War of the Broken Chain , Prince Harbryn learned of the attack on his father. With the Fire Wasps in tow, he returned to Castle Caladorn to find his parents dead and disintegrated and his brother Ullyn a betrayer. He had to try to make sense of this, as well as to deal with the fact that the Witch Queen was released in part by his actions and that Tristan Holdfast was revealed as a lost House Tarmoore heir. At that time, he was content to act and to worry about who will rule when things settled. He has taken the title Lord Steward at this time.
He led the forces of Phoenix Company in the Battle of Worldbreaker's Howe . Although he mourned the loss of his friend, Belerion ap Kadishai, he was glad the threat of the Tarrasque was ended, and he looked forward to the future. After discussions between Tristan, Shairi, and himself, Harbryn accepted the title of Prince of the new Principality of Sudwaine. He is happy to command the south of Summerlund and protect it from orcish incursion. He is rebuilding Castle Valkurath with intent to make it his seat of power.
During a visit to Seowyn's Crossing, he met Alinora Greenfields, daughter of the local Baron, and the two became friends. Over time, their friendship developed into affection and then love. They were married in 1088 SKR, and the two remain affectionate and friendly.
