Fleur D'Or

Before it yields the distinctively spicy berries that lead to its name, Swamp Pepper first blooms with colorful red and orange flowers. This lasts for only a short window, but it's welcomed by the Halflings of the Three Shires who harvest the flowers eagerly. They then stuff the blossoms with cheese, dredge them in an egg wash and bread crumbs, then fry them in pans of hot oil. The resulting item is a combination of cheesy, spicy, crunchy goodness that they refer to as Fleur D'Or, or golden flowers. They are only to be had during the summer, but Halflings always make note of swamp pepper patches and often time arriving for a Boucherie at meadows where the flowers bloom. This leads to the delicately fried delights being an integral part of the summer memories of Halfling youths.
