Chuluth

Chuluth is an Illithid who resides in the Underdark somewhere in the vicinity of the Drunken Drider tavern. Unlike most illithid, he has taken pains to learn several languages to speak aloud, including Undercommon and the Common Tongue, and he is surprisingly friendly and talkative. He doesn't like to speak about his origins, preferring only to say that he broke away from his culture and people.
Chuluth has become good friends with Kadalath Ristaqual, the Drow proprietor of the Druken Drider. Although some see conspiracies with a Drow and an Illithid in such close companionship, others see a natural friendship between a pair of outcasts. Chuluth generally forgoes consuming the brains of sentients out of concern for the sensibilities of those he associates with. At times, however, when it's been necessary to defend the Druken Drider against those who would cause trouble, he has been known to indulge in private.
