Balgon's Victory

By contrast to the solemn observances of Cassada's Watch, the riotous festivities of Chul 16th's Dwarven holiday is a reminder that when dwarves cut loose, whole cities can be swept up in the bacchanalia. In commemoration of Balgon Fivebraids and his winning of freedom for his people, all of dwarven society unbraids their beards...figuratively at least.

There's plenty of drinking and eating, of course. Tests of strength and ingenuity, where dwarves attempt to topple stone pillars are common. Children play at Rahadujot (Flee the Giant) while adults wrestle, show off their master crafts, and tell tall tales. Many proposals happen on this day as well.

It is not uncommon for a community's Thane to recognize their successor or to to yield their iron crowns on this day. A Thane who begins his rule on Balgon's Victory is believed to be headed for an auspicious age.
