Kaelthar the Hollow Star
Kaelthar the Hollow Star is an enormous, skeletal Celestial whose form seems perpetually unraveling into the void. Its towering frame is made of jagged, blackened bones etched with glowing, violet runes that flicker faintly like dying stars.
Its hollow ribcage contains a swirling abyss, within which faint screams and whispers echo—a haunting reminder of souls consumed in its servitude to Kateus. Its skull is elongated, its eye sockets vast pools of infinite blackness that can draw mortals into a paralyzing stupor.
Draped over its skeletal form are the tattered remains of Celestial robes that shimmer faintly with void energies. Its wings are an amalgamation of skeletal spines and void tendrils, endlessly shifting and extending, as if yearning to grasp the living.
Kaelthar the Hollow Star was once a radiant Celestial in service to a benevolent pantheon, a beacon of hope and light across the cosmos. But its devotion to justice and balance became its undoing. Manipulated by Kateus through whispered promises of purging the multiverse of chaos and suffering, Kaelthar fell from grace. It was remade in the void god’s image, its luminous form stripped and corrupted, and its purpose twisted. No longer a harbinger of hope, Kaelthar became a bringer of despair, spreading destruction and nihilism in Kateus's name. It obliterated civilizations and drained entire worlds of life, adding their remnants to the void in its endless march of annihilation. Vraska the Mirekeeper, a reclusive and feared bog witch who had embraced lichdom, lived in the heart of the festering swamps of Fluidan. Her dominion was a place of decay and death, but it was also a refuge for lost souls and broken beings seeking escape from the cruel world. When Kaelthar descended upon the swamp, it sought not only to destroy the refuge but to consume the potent arcane energies of Vraska’s lair to empower itself. Vraska, enraged at the affront, did what many thought impossible: she confronted the Hollow Star directly. For three days and nights, their battle raged, the swamp twisted into an apocalyptic landscape of void storms and necrotic eruptions. The final moments of the battle were etched into legend. Vraska, knowing she could not overpower Kaelthar’s Celestial might, lured it into her sanctum, a place infused with ancient and forbidden magics. There, she unleashed a ritual that tethered Kaelthar’s void energies to the swamp itself. The Hollow Star, unable to escape the quagmire of necrotic and planar magics, was slowly unraveled, its immense power drained to sustain Vraska’s lichdom. In its death throes, Kaelthar’s abyssal core imploded, leaving behind only its colossal skeleton. Yet, its essence lingers in the swamp, and whispers of the void still haunt those who dare to tread too close to its resting place. Vraska emerged victorious but forever changed. The battle left her lair tainted with void energies, warping the swamp and further isolating her from the living. However, she retained fragments of Kaelthar’s power, making her an even more formidable force. Legends tell that her staff, fashioned from Kaelthar’s shattered rib bone, holds a fraction of its abyssal might. To this day, pilgrims, scholars, and fools seek out the site of the Hollow Star’s demise, drawn by tales of its lingering power and the eternal promise of Kateus’s void. One of the Celestial's ribs was torn from its existance by Kateus himself and used to create a very powerful longbow The Hollow Star Rib. This bow came into the possession of Vraska the Mirekeeper and later Twilight's Call.
