Thorin Camino (Amundson) Dwarven Wagonmaster, Barbarian

Thorin was third of four children born to Thortef and Cleneth Amund. He is the second oldest son, escaping the normal birthright obligations and free to pursue a life self directed. Growing up near the surface in Alooth, he often was sent to accompany deliveries from the family blacksmithy. Not really interested in the family trade, he relished these opportunities to escape Doat Proper and aexplore the tunnels, becoming quite skilled with a wagon and helping to strengthen trade contracts for the family. A friendly dwarf who enjoyed strong mead he is quick to make friends and enemies.   Unfortunately, one too many of his trips came under the scrutiny of local bandits. During an ambush, his hired guards fled and left him to deal with the party solo. He was forced to surrender the wagon and return home a pariah. Weeks later he recognized the wagon off the side of the main tunnel, half camouflaged in bushes near a small cave. As he investigated, he recognized the two guards that had fled. Enraged at the betrayal, he murdered both of them before he could question them. Distraught at his actions he became drunk on the guard’s mead and returned home.   Sadly, one of the guards was son-in-law to a local politician who threatened to shut down the family’s smithy without proper reparations. His family and the stronghold shunned him. Thorin chose to leave in the middle of the night, rather than force his family to sit through a trial.   He continued to find work traveling the countryside driving wagons, eager to meet new people and trying to grow the family’s trade routes (with no luck) under his assumed name Camino.   Thorin is a generally happy dwarf, that enjoys a good song or story. He has a dark sense of humor that can put others at unease. He blames alcohol for his actions in the cave, but knows that he wasnt drinking that night until after the rage. He has since sworn off all drink to better manage his rage and is very vocal in encouraging others to do the same. He tries to eat surface fish whenever he can. He also carries pickled tins of fish that he stocks up on when in town.   Thorin travels with a single-bladed bearded axe and round wooden shield. He normally wears leather armor, but lusts after some fine scale or banded mail. His long trips on the road have lead to him developing nervous habits like whistling or humming to himself. He is slightly taller than the average dwarf, but his time outside of the stronghold has lead him astray of more standard practices. He maintains a medium length brown beard with shoulder length brown hair and no piercings. He has tattoos on the backs of his hands almost identical, but one is a wagon wheel the other a round shield. He squints a lot in the bright sunlight, but it is mostly from habit as his eyes have slowly adjusted. He is usually seen wearing a road-stained gray hooded long vest over his dark red tunic and brown-gray breeches, with short cuffed boots.Thorin carries a high quality, but very worn, leather rucksack with several out of date maps in an interior pocket and a bedroll tied to the outside. He enjoys fishing, but is terrible at it.
