Tohrn is a world that deceives in appearance. While dry and inhospitable across most of the surface, there are pockets of lushness tucked away from the blazing sun. The planet has four main continents, two of which share a land-bridge, the rest separated by miles of ocean.   Civilization is present both through self-sufficient city-states scattered about, and multiple underground strongholds connected through tunnels, roads, and rivers both on the surface and below it.   Magic, mythology, and emerging technology intermix to varying degrees as the people of Tohrn find ways to better their lives on small and large scales.   While smaller than Earth, the traditional day/night passage of time is only followed on the surface. At the core of Tohrn is a complex celestial being that follows natural patterns of wakefulness and dormancy translated through the layers of earth by temperature changes that become more extreme the further from the surface one travels. This leads to subterranean landscapes unparalleled in beauty and diversity. Entire civilizations have been carved into the ground with unique races finding home, and hopefully, prosperity.   There are two moons that circle Tohrn, their effects make the oceans unsafe for all but the most skilled sailor. Those tides also drive the cycles of magic, with each subtype of magic (arcanic, holy, druidic, and bardic) being impacted by a different alignment of the lunar cycle.   Races are intermixed in larger cities, but smaller settlements tend to homogenize, with half-orcs and half-elves fairly common. Outright racism is rare among demi-humans, except among the oldest or most secluded inhabitants. Nearly 70% of the known civilization is below the surface of Tohrn, although there are many underground districts that remain unconnected by tunnels, forcing travelers to brave the wastes above.
