Council of Seven, Ruling body of Doat Proper
When the Guilds of Iron and Glass made their final descent in the dark, it was quickly determined that a council would be needed to help manage the growth and inhabitants of this new civilization. Familiar with the guild system, they gave each Craftmaster a seat on the council, selecting one to lead as the Arbiter for life. At that time, there were a total of seven Craftmasters in Doat, each unparalleled in skill and well experienced in guild politics. This set the precedent for a Council of Seven that has lasted nearly six generations. After the suspicious death of the first Arbiter, 10 years into her term, It was decided that the Arbiter should be a rotating title held only by the keenest of craftsmen, and only for a period of 5 years. The council rules from the location of the first real settlement, Ironhold. The council seat itself, the Glass Forge, has been dormant nearly 200 years, knowledge of it's magic lost to pettiness and pride. The council still makes its ruling there as reminder that divisiveness has hurt Doat proper more than any monsters from the deep.
