The Lukkustafir Coin of Loki

That which fortune graces them, mischief will befall them double.
Forged in Scandinavia during the time of the Vikings, the Lukkustafir Coin has an ability unseen in other items, to greatly influence the luck and fortune of whoever carries it.   Those who endear themselves to the Coin, either by receiving a blessing from the creator of the Coin, having an aura that the Coin likes or by committing a number of acts which it finds pleasing, will receive only good fortune whilst bearing the Coin. Those who the Coin does not like, either because of a curse from the creator, the bearer's aura or because of deeds done by the carrier which the Coin does not approve of, receive only ill fortune and bad luck whilst carrying the Coin.   Most commonly, however, the being that carries the Coin will neither endear themselves to it nor invite ill will from it. Instead, they will find themselves experiencing good luck while carrying the Coin, though the fortune they receive will not be as often or as grand as those that the Coin is fond of. When these carriers lose the Coin, however, which they always do, their luck changes. Whatever luck had granted them with, mischief and misfortune will counteract twice as often and twice as strongly.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Coin's semi-sentience and unique ability to influence its carrier's fate and luck stems from the blessings and spells it received by the magic of a great magician.

Manufacturing process

In the time of the Viking era, a powerful magician (supposedly the Norse God, Loki) cast a series of potent spells upon an ordinary silver ingot. His blessings changed its shape, morphing the tainted silver into a gold coin of the finest quality, the Lukkustafir stave etched into one of its faces, with the symbol of Loki on the other.
