Veorites

History

The Veorites were a curious and technologically advanced humanoid race, as far as we can tell, that once thrived throughout our galaxy. They were the forefathers of remarkable inventions and colossal structures, some of which spanned entire solar systems in their circumference. What remains of their civilisation include soaring and relatively undisturbed cities, such as Nyxguard and Vilor, which contain including awe-inspiring architecture and marvels of engineering that were far ahead of any other race at the time.
While many of their machines and technology have since run dormant, from records archaeologists and scholars have deciphered the Veorites seemed to have been pioneers, venturing throughout space making many discoveries, some of which before most races had crawled out of the primordial soup. While older races such as the Illadrians and Xalax eagerly sought to interact with the Veorites personally to learn from their wisdom and prowess, most did not have the luxury of meeting these great explorers. Many Veorites embedded themselves throughout primitive cultures throughout the galaxy to aid in their development a fact which most races remain blissfully unaware.
One fateful day however, everything changed. Seemingly without warning or reason, the Veorites vanished entirely from the galactic stage. Every member of their species returned to their home world and, in the blink of an eye, disappeared. Their once-thriving cities stood abandoned, dust accumulating over the years and their advanced technology, as centuries passed, turned into relics of a bygone era. Their disappearance left a vast wave of curiosity throughout the galaxy with many rumours sprouting as to what happened to them. Had they achieved some form of ascension to a higher plane of existence, if so, why would they not say? Did they cause some cataclysm of their own making? Were they transported to another dimension? Perhaps we will never know.

Legacy

The legacy of the Veorites has endured long after their disappearance. Many of their inventions, even those that were poorly understood have been reverse engineered by other races leading to advancements in several fields, from interstellar travel to medical innovations. Their ruined cities have become archaeological sites of great interest with others becoming populated by different races or, for cities like Nyxguard, converted entirely into a giant academic hub.
With Veorites influencing many species texts, art and cultures they are widely revered as a reminder of the greatness that once graced the galaxy. The "Veorite Enigma" has become a popular subject amongst scholars and conspiracy theorists alike, with great quests still ongoing to uncover the truth behind the disappearance.
