Holder of Life's Well

After the worlds sprang to life thanks to the Light Bringer, some of the early energies took on divine properties. Among these is the Holder of Life.   As Llareffe developed, fauna and flora species evolved and some died out in response to other changes on the planet. Some species were destroyed by natural disasters. Others were wiped out by other species.   Every time a species was no more, the Holder of Life wept. The Holder knew some extinctions were necessary for the overall survival of others, but still They wept for the loss.   The Holder's tears fell on to the surface of Llareffe and became part of the planet itself. Some say the Crystal Lake is where many tears fell after the Great Cataclysm.   What is known, however, is that, aside from the Crystal Lake, individual tears became deep reservoirs across the planet. Tjiramor itself has 39 such known wells, which speaks to the great number of species no longer on the planet. The kingdom may have more wells still to be discovered.   The early worshippers of the Holder of Life sought out the reservoirs as a place to venerate Them. They discovered that water from the reservoirs had divine healing abilities. To protect the water, the Holder's worshippers constructed wells that tapped into the reservoirs. And then constructed simple buildings to protect the wells.   The buildings are typically made of wood or mud bricks, depending on where they are located. The ceiling of each building has a circular opening so the Holder of Life can see what is being done with Their wept tears and know that the extinction of species is now giving life to others.   Next to the central well building is a simple dwelling where at least three of the Honored of the Holder live. One Honored is always present at the well. One Honored is prepared to greet other worshippers and those seeking healing. The remaining Honored may be at rest or taking care of other duties at the site.   All those seeking healing are welcome. This includes healing for animals as well as the gathering of water to take for ailing crops or other flora. Typically, an Honored will accompany any one who needs to take water to a different location.   Major healing can be accomplished by bathing in a tub filled with the well's water. Minor healing can be accomplished by drinking the water. The Honored also use drops of the water to make healing potions.   The Honored are always concerned about misuse of the well water. The Holder of Life has what some call a darker side to Their aspect: the taking of life. Others don't recognize this as a dark side, but just part of the living cycle.   Just as the Honored worship the life-giving and healing attributes of the Holder, another organization known as The Terminus worships the obverse. The Terminus would use the well water in what the Honored view as perverse. The Terminus change the healing properties to properties that cause disease or the end of life. For this reason, one of the Honored is always present at a well and one always accompanies pure well water if it leaves the well.   The created healing potions cannot be corrupted.
