Itáhem

I dare you to find better beaches and surf anywhere on the continent! You won't, and I know it!

Itáhem is a beachside city in the eastern Thurásin country of Ettioril. It is renowned throughout the continent for the quality of its waves and the beauty of its beaches, and sees a huge inflow of travellers during the warm months.

History

Itáhem's beaches have been known about for many years by expert surfers, but the town on its shores had received very little support by Ettioril's government. This changed after the monarchy was overthrown in 11 Disturbance, and the new republican government sought to present a friendly image to those who had decried their violence. To this end, Ettioril invested heavily in the town of Itáhem and built it into a city in a few short years, encouraging the establishment of cafe, production, and all manner of things to 'increase the appeal of the area'.   The plain cynicism of the move initially failed to convince tourists, but as the brutality of the government's ascension faded into the past, Itáhem began to see the traffic the government had hoped for. With time, it became one of the country's premier travel destinations, and the city's surfing community established a yearly surfing competition to ensure the constant flow of travel.

Competition

Every year, Itáhem hosts the Eastern Surfing Championships, a gathering of the most accomplished surfers throughout eastern Thurásin and beyond. The week-long competition is preceeded by a hectic month of preparation by the city's residents and workers, and is notoriously followed by celebratory chaos that has given the city a reputation for being a wild time.
And I'll take you to Itáhem, you'll get to see me surf, and we'll lie on the white beaches under the summer stars. You'll have an amazing time, I promise.
