Etyo (they/he) is a character played by Aoife (they/she) in Arc 2: The Disappearing Act.
Description
Etyo is a Level 3 Fey Wanderer Ranger, Level 4 Scout Rogue. Etyo is a Kenku in their mid-twenties. As Kenku mature at 12 and live to around 60, they're in the first third of their life. Their feathers are a gradient from black to a dark indigo or purpley-blue. They're dressed mostly in dark leather, walk with a large stick, and have a longbow strung over their back. They are always
somehow covered in pollen and little bits of dirt and plant matter.
Etyo's personality derives from many different pop culture figures, including: Soren from Guardians of Ga'hoole with their conviction, forward moment, "let's do the damn thing" attitude; Deb from Unprepared Casters Arc 1 in that they care for the party and are trying to keep everything together; and Veo Sjena from Dungeons of Drakkenheim in that they are quietly competent and honorable. Some of their personality also comes from real life corvids (especially magpies and ravens) in that they like shiny things, use tools efficiently, and have lateral thinking.
Backstory
Etyo was a woodland creature given sentience by a fey being's accident. They used to be a guard of
Little City, and one day left because of an ex who was also a town guard. They kept their adorable cub scout looking badge and struck off alone in the forest to make their own way in the world, and eventually found civilization outside of the Redwillow Forest.
