Chapter 6: Sometimes you have to run

General Summary

We follow the giggling and we don't find out who is giggling, but we do find a guy in a cage. "You gotta save my boss!" the guy in the cage yells at us, "And the baby." "Where did the baby come from?" I ask as I hurl a bomb at the frog statue." "You know the little kid!" "Of course there's a kid!" I respond, "As if we didn't have enough to deal with." Ash dashed past me, running towards the exit. Alfred slaps Skald to get some sense into him and get him aimed towards our goal again. That's when things started getting worse.

The rack started walking

"The rack is walking," the guy in the cage said nervously. "I'm working to get you out," Skald said as he started winding the cage down. I turned and noticed DaVinci is down, I pull him over to Ash who throws a heal on him, and DaVinci starts to run out of the dungeon. Alfred looks at the room and says, "We need to get out of here," shoots the rack and runs. I follow him Skald keeps winding and the guy's cage hits the floor, he ran over and pulled him out of the cage. "I think I found our missing people!" DaVinci shouted. "Over here in the dungeon! The kid and the merchant! They're locked in" Ash backs up to the stairs and shouts over his shoulder, "Check the ogre's body ( Chapter 5: Torture Implements almost kill us )! We need a key to let out this guy." "I found the key!" Alfred yelled back. I grabbed it from him and ran it to DaVinci as Alfred shot the rack over my shoulder. "It's the Gaelor, we gotta go now!" the guy from the cage yelled. We scrambled out grabbing the people we rescued fighting off the torture devices, that stop as we leave the cursed dungeon. We kept traveling until we got to the campsite.

Their story

Skald turned to the child, "Tell us Yonn, what happened, how must we avenge you?" Yonn sniffed and answered, "After you left our farm was attacked. Althew and the bandits said they needed specimens for the boss. The bandits gave me to the lady and she gave me to the Gaelor. I don't know where my sister is. She's still somewhere back in the dungeon." Skald nodded in imitation of a wise-person, "Do not worry, we will rescue her too! Now good sir, how were you imprisoned?" "Let me introduce myself, I'm Dougan Louve," he said as he worried at his hands, "we were traveling to town when the bandits grabbed us. They wanted something from my goods, throwing things out until they found a book ordered by Havok. He's a monk in town at the temple of Curesan. They took it, I don't know why." "Looks like we need to talk to this priest," Ash said.
So, back to town it was.

Back to Red Tower

"Good to see you," the Sherriff said as we headed back toward town, "We were just about to head out, they've taken more people." "We can head out tomorrow, but we need to follow up on why this is going on." DaVinci said. "Tell the inn, and we can put up for the night, and you can talk to whoever you need to in town," the sheriff said. "We'll be off now."
The temple was a simple building, and after a moment or two Monk Havok came out. "How can I help you?" Havok asked looking politely between us. "I don't believe we've met before." The man in front of us doesn't look quite human, something seems off about him. "We rescued Dougan Louve from bandits, he said they were looking specifically for the book you ordered before stealing the book and giving him to someone called the Gaelor." Monk Havok paled, "This is not good. Not good at all. I needed that book to find out more about the Dry Lands. Something is connecting us to that land, holding the portal open. It is harming both our lands. I was hoping to find out more about Rod of Memoria. It tinkers with the world beyond, and tries to force the two lands together."
