The Tram

"The Tram" a mysterious underground commuter rail system that simply popped up in Tir na Laochra one day. The trams' operators are a silent and stoic dwarf-like species who appear to be composed entirely of rock, they are known as the stonekin. They rarely speak, usually only to negotiate trade terms, even then they use as few words as possible and haggle very little. Though they are peaceful they will defend the tram should anyone be foolish enough to try. It has become known as the most reliable way of transporting goods or persons from one place to another within the vale and beyond.
Reliable may need clarification here, the stonekin have never failed to complete a contract, and thus are extremely reliable. Unfortunately, their trams run on their own, usually undisclosed, schedules and routes. Their stations appear and disappear like the amorphous lands of Tir na Loachra itself, only this seems to happen right under the noses of the sapients living in the areas they appear, unlike the usual phenomena of this kind. The are the most hospitable of hosts to their passengers and offer nothing but the finest luxuries to even the lowliest of their charges.
From whence they came none can say. They have refused any and all forms of communication and interaction that are not directly related to trade (of which they will take anything, a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g). Coupled with this, they have aggressively defended any and all attempts to further investigate them, their trams, the tram tunnels, and even those caught staring too long, particularly at apparent working components, within the stations.
This level of mystery combined with their willingness to do business with anyone and trade any form of goods (Yes, ANY), has led to major social upheavals around The Tram and it's enigmatic operators. Upheavals that have no apparent solution as the train doesn't seem to be going anywhere permanently, and the stonekin have no interest in listening to the plees of other beings.
