Drakhian Empire

History: The Drakhian Empire can trace it's origins all the way back to the time of the New Dawn. The founding of the capital was actually done by Rhogar and Sylvar, soon after the battle with Ragnorra. The original reason that the pair had created the city, was to establish a land that would be a strong deterrent to aggressive expansion of the newly formed Cervo Kingdom, a kingdom which whose path changed from what the New Dawn had originally had helped to build the land for. This would eventually change over the centuries, especially after the fight with Zargon, during which Sylvar was lost, and Rhogar went into self imposed exile, leaving the budding Empire to its own devices.   In the following years, the town would grow to be a full sized city, attracting many of the more warlike races such as Dragonborns, Orcs, Goliaths, Bugbears, Humans, Hobgoblins, and Kobolds. Other races were also welcomed to the land, but a hierarchy would soon develop. The strongest would rise to the top, while the weakest would remain in servitude. Through this idea, there became two prominent traditions that would appear in their society. The first was a kind of Rite of Passage, called The Dumvast, that all citizens who wished to be recognized by the empire would undertake. The other was a tradition where the way to rise in the army, and eventually in the government as well, was to challenge your superior to single combat. Most often this will end in death for the loser, though not always. In this way, it allows the strongest of the country to rise to prominent positions of power. This is what also lead to one rising star, a dragonborn named Grenur Rogan, a prodigy who had learned to fight from Rhogar himself would leave the capital in search of the great dragonborn. After years of searching, he finally found his old master, who had built himself a small keep in the mountains near the edge of the Forgotten Woods, overlooking the lake large lake near in the southwestern edge of Luma. Grenur challenged the old dragonborn, and won. Grenur took Rhogar's battleax, and returned to the capital, using the ax as proof of right to take the mantle of Emperor.   In the third century, Grenur began the first of many expansion campaigns began. The Drakian Empire had grown bigger than their one city and surrounding territory could sustain, so they turned their eyes outwards. He also was becoming increasingly paranoid that there would be a challenge to his leadership that he could not overcome. He hoped that by giving his army an outlet, he could distract his generals from looking at him as a target. This would work for a time, but eventually, as he was growing older, he would be challenged and defeated, the ax passing down to the new leader. And thus, the cycle of the country began. There would be a period of peace time, followed by expansionist war, and eventually a challenge for new leadership.   Over the centuries, they would eventually reach a point where their neighbors would appear to be more powerful than those they fought in previously, which brought most of their expansions to a halt. In the Northeast, their expansion would be stopped by the harsh mountainous region that had allowed the Dwarves of Bergegthim to remain isolated and defensible. In the direct north, they were stopped by a small costal country, known only as The Northern Coast, consisting mostly of humans, elves, halflings, and gnomes. This country is heavily forested, and appears to not be worth the trouble of invading. To the south, they were stopped by both the Forgotten Woods , and the newly formed Gulok Republic , who had gifted the boarder land to the new military company lead by Sylyvar Blackblade.   Around the time of 1500 AF, their biggest challenge would appear. Along with the Cervo Kingdom, and the Heung Dynasty, the Drakhians were growing jealous of the magical powers of the dwarves of Bergegthim. The current leader, Drogon, would sign an agreement with Cervo, and they would go to war together against Bergegthim. In this time of war, Drogak Rogan, would would be born, and he would grow up in the time of war, and begin his journey towards rulership. The war would last the better part of two centuries, and would end with the dwarves losing many of there southern and western holdings to Drakhian, Cervo, and Heung (Who had joined the war late) rulership. Near the end of the war, Drogak would slay Drogon, and become Emperor. He would then end the war, which had ground to a stalemate. A few centuries later, in 1863 AF, he would take on the Northern Cost, conquering them in a matter of years. This will be the last of the current expansions that the Drakhian empire has gone through until the present day.
