Gulok Republic

1st Layer Like all Pirate Kings before her, Ledalyn Amanath worked hard to achieve the lofty title. Starting as most pirates do, she was able to get hired as just another helping hand. Over the years, her unique abilities as a Triton allowed her to swiftly rise to be the first mate of a ship, and soon after, through somewhat ambiguous reasons, captain of The Orion. Ledalyn became known as a fierce dueler, and an even more ruthless tactician on the high seas. Other ship captains, seeing her growing wealth, and the admiration of her crew began pledging themselves to her cause. Within 25 years since becoming a captain, she rose to a high enough position and backing to challenge the Pirate King at the time, and taking the crown from his head. She took the title of Pirate King in the year of 1978AF, and has thwarted any attempt at usurping her power with swift efficiancy. Ledalyn’s flagship The Orion, is a large 3 masted Galleon with two rows of cannons on each side, and is one of the fastest ships to sail the Fairy Sea and Black Seas. Her crew is loyal to a man, and her first mate is a great hulking Minotaur, known only as Gralbark. As the Pirate King, Ledalyn commands one of the largest navel forces owned by any one country, and while they primarily sail separately, they will all defend the Gulok Republic if the call goes out. Gralbark is a minotaur, saved from being an ore slave on a ship by Ledalyn, and has served at her side for the last 36 years, and was one of the primary crew members to help her become captain. He is her most loyal of crew members, and serves on the Orion as her first mate. To many people, from the outside, he appears to just be a great hulking brute. However, in private, his intelligence shows through. Having served a master of tactician for so long, Gralbark has learned much, and frequently places tactical games with the Ledalyn, and is one of her closest advisors in secret. 2nd Layer As the Mald Empire grew, there was some contention as it stabilized its conquered regions. Some time around the year 575 AF, there was a contention over who should receive the crown between two twins. This turned into a full-scale civil war. The Brother who lost this war, was the elf Prince Sylyvar Blackblade, and was exiled. He traveled with what remained of his loyal army across the Dorfell depths to the other continent. There, they roamed the land as a mercenary group, taking jobs, and never failing once a contract was signed. They became known as the Black Company. Once they took a contract, they finished their mission, never once losing a major battle. They dream of returning to their homeland, though their leader has passed on, and his grandson, Gilthanis Blackblade now leads them. They have settled in the northern area of the Gulok Republic. They initially came to the region as an army hired by the Republic in 950 AF as a deterrence to the Drakhian Empire to the north, but given how long they have been there, they are effectively settled in to ruling the area stretching from the sea to the mountains of surrounding the Crater. There have been some skirmishes along the border, and Gilthanis keeps his troops in peak fighting condition, ready for the eventual war to break out. The 3rd layer or faction of the country is ran by Bogop The Butcher Some call him a man before his time. Bogop Was born when the country was split into a 3 part system. He quickly grew into the role of a thief stealing gold and silver as it passed through the country from Father Donovan. From the gold and silver he amassed while stealing there trade routes he slowly built his empire. Every time gold went missing someone was blamed and when they were kicked Bogop was there. Man by man he grew his forces until they day they took what was rightfully his. You see bogop was a goblin whos mother worked for father donovan and from that knowledge he cut off his trades and established GoblinVille a refuge to all kinds of life if you have the coin and wits to take whats yours. The 4th layer belongs to a drow, a man who from his self proclaimed lords strength. Donovan started as a good man leading a normal life. He left to find his trade at 14 and ventured into the church where he was greeted by the repetition and monotony of faith. As he grew older he easily ascended the ranks. Some say through the lords intervention he soon became the Cardinal of the Church, but others say he became invested into the art of poison and theft. By day he was a man of his god. By night he smuggled and gambled leading rings inside the church and using his money as church offerings to buy and expand church land. Donovan soon grew in power and amassed a following he pledged himself to phenax proclaiming he would set the world on its final game. After taking what was his he soon set his sights on expanding to all the merchant republic to unite the world under house of phenax.
