A group of elves become the first Merfolk

A group of elves find a cove so beautiful they permanently settle there. The sea continuously called to all of them, and they pushed the edges of their magic to the very limit to stay underwater as long as possible. The community soon learned of the spell used to alter species, and spent years confering on how to cast that spell themselves so they could live underwater. Arch Ananda soon learned of this, and personally visited the city of Kallisto to speak to the leaders. She explained she could easily grant them their wish, but there were important consiquenses. The elves would lose their increadably long life along with their ability to live onland, but most importantly, they would lose their innate connection to Natura magic. Despite her warnings, the elves agreed to her terms. On a day where the wind was blowing off the sea and the weather was a perfect balmy beach temperature, Ananda cast the spell over the citizens of Kallisto. The new creature was elf from the waist up, sea creature from the waste down. All manner of sea creature tails could be found amongst the citizens, with shark tails being the most common and sea serpent tails being the least common.
