The Hordes of Endless Night/ The Risen Empire
A thousand miles to the north, beyond the lands where any mortal dwells lies a waste of ice and snow. The Sun hangs dim along the horizon, casting long shadows from the icy keeps that dot the landscape. There it will remain, for months on end, as the slaves tend the beasts and their masters slumber, waiting the long night of winter, when the sun falls away and the dead rise from their tombs.
The Hordes of Endless night hunger for more than the blood of the living. They hunger for war. Ten thousand corpses meander the vast catacombs and fortresses, all that remains of a once glorious empire from far beyond the memory of anyone living. Some day, the vampiric lords swear, they will march south once more, and cover the earth in their empire at long last. However, thus far, they simply raid. Striking out at their borders they capture blood slaves and fodder, sustaining themselves and swelling their ranks in preparation for the day that they darken the skies- and crush the world beneath their heels.
Structure
- First of the Risen: Eldest of the Risen Lords, Head of the internal Council
- Risen Lord: A Vampire with at least one keep, and enough Risen servants to hold a place on the council.

History
The Risen empire was once known by another name, in a language now only spoken by the dead. It's rulers turned to vampirism for power, and their cruelties grew by leaps and bounds as they spread across the world, even to the frozen north. They placed the seat of their empire there, beyond the reach of the sun, and ruled for years- until at long last a rebellion rose against them, in the long summer months and spread all across their reach. When the fires died down, the only remaining stronghold was in the far far north, beyond where any army could afford to march
Demography and Population
Though the territory controlled by the Risen Empire is vast, population is concentrated in a series of keeps ruled by the individual vampires. Nomadic tribes exist in the vast wastes between, tithing large quantities of their herds to their lords in return for their lives.
Military
The Military of the Risen Empire is much like that of a feudal kingdom. Each Risen Lord controls their own army loyal only to them, composed of a large mass of low quality Claw levies, backed by a number of elite units of more powerful Fangs, commanded by lesser Risen, usually their own spawn.
In battle, the Risen Lords follow the overall strategy of a Risen Lord chosen to lead the force, but each looks after their own hides first and foremost, and often betray each other to the whims of fickle fate. Their own forces, however, follow the orders of the Risen Lord unquestionably, and to the bitter end. Tactics used are thus generally drowning the foe in Claws, as Fangs attempt to flank, and Risen attempt to pick off enemy officers

By default, the the Risen Empire is in a constant cold war with all nations, regardless of distance, flaring up regularly into active raiding by one party or another

Nomadic tribes raise goats, hunt, and harvest across the vast tundra, tithing to the isolated vampiric keeps
