Venom Knights

The Venom Knights are a group of men and women turned into vampires by the Spider Cult and tasked with the hunting down and exterminating of other vampires. As decreed by Zahra the First Vampire and founder of the Spider Cult vampires that have not fully devoted themselves to the temple are to be destroyed as apostates who reject the Spider Goddess’ teachings and use her gift for selfish ends.
But vampires are incredibly powerful beings. Physically resilient and capable of unnatural repair of their dead bodies as well as immense spiritual powers that only make their ability to wield magic all the more terrifying. For most normal humans, even experienced arcane agents, going up against a prepared vampire is near suicide. Therefore the best way to hunt and kill one is with another vampire.
Venom Knights are anointed by the temple and usually sired by the Silk Mother herself or by another Venom Knight who has deemed the recipient worthy to join their order. They are bitten and injected by the Fateweaver’s venom which transforms them bodily and spiritually into the deadly, immortal creatures they must be to serve their role.
Venom Knights are trained in the use of holy halberds made of silver and enchanted to be especially potent at slaying the undead. The silver strengthens the enchantment and allows the knight to cleave through body as well as spirit, allowing them to battle the vampires’ malevolent shadows when they appear. They wear a silver cuirass under black robes that burn vampires when they tough it, along with heavy padding beneath the armor to ensure they do not burn themselves on their own protection.
Because vampires are social predators they often blend seamlessly into communities on which they feed. As a result venom knights must be well trained in investigation and often perform a role similar to that of a detective while trying to find their target and eliminate it. Because vampires are universally banned due to their dangerous nature venom knights are treated with respect everywhere they go, even in lands where the Cult of the Spider has little or no presence. As there are none more equipped in seeing justice done upon these parasitic monsters there is no country in the world that would turn a venom knight away should they suspect there is a vampire in the vicinity.
