Kel'a Thron
His Serene Majesty, Autarch Kel'a Thron
Kel'a Thron was Autarch of Naru and the father of the current Autarch, Kel'a Bron. He reigned as Autarch for 825 years (a remarkably long reign even for an Even King) before being killed during a war against invading Orc hordes from the Arak Mountains to the south, commonly known as the Ten Winter War.
Thron is most remembered for bringing to an end the systematic and institutional persecution of Gnome and Halfling people by the Elves that had been going on for many centuries. He made it a crime punishable by death for any Elf to kill, harm or enslave a Gnome of Halfling and freed all slaves held by Elves anywhere in the Elven Realm of Naru. He also made it a crime punishable by exile to adhere to or promote the philosophy of Drow'anar, which promoted the racial, spiritual and cultural superiority of Elvenkind over all others. This policy of tolerance and change drove tens of thousands of Elves from Naru and into the far reaches of the world where they would settle new lands and call themselves Drowkin.
Kel'a Thron met his end during the Orc invasion of the Kingdom of Aria (now known as the Ten Winter War) in the year 108 AF at the age of 1,079 years. It was the 825th year of his reign as Autarch. He was succeeded by his son, Kel'a Bron that same year.

Personal history
Kel'a Thron became Autarch of Naru at the tender age of 254 years when his father (named Kel'a Brin) was killed under very mysterious circumstances while traveling through the Vytuian countryside. Rumors of the day said he was assassinated by adherents to the Drow'anar philosophy, but no killer was ever identified. What is known for certain is that Kel'a Thron was, from that day forward, a passionate opponent to the Drowkin faction of the Elven world.
In 107 AF, word reached Thron of the massive Orc invasion of the neighboring Kingdom of Aria. Thron immediately called for the raising of a small but highly trained and highly mobile force of Vytuian cavalry that would rush to the aid of its Human and Dwarven neighbors. In the spring of 108 AF, he had his force of 1,900 mounted Elven warriors march across the Arul River and head east towards the City of Dunmor where they would cross the Arial River and join forces with the Arian King and his allies. While still some 40 miles west of Dunmor, he eceived word of a force of Orcs just across the Arial burning and pillaging the countryside. He crossed at a ford of the Arial and led his mounted force to meet the Orcs without hesitation or any sort of a plan of attack. Upon meeting the horde, it became clear that the Elves were outnumbered more than three to one, and many of the enemy they faced were, in fact, Trolls (some estimates place the number of Trolls at 500 or more). Over the course of a full day's fighting, more than half the Elves were killed, including Kel'a Thron and all his commanders. The surviving Elves fled back across the river, many returning to Naru to bring word of the Autarch's death to the capital.
Accomplishments & Achievements
The Autarch that banned from the Elven Realm all adherence to the philosophy of Drow'anar. He freed the enslaved and persecuted Halfling and Gnome peoples throughout the Realm and made the killing of any innocent non-Elves instantly punishable by death. He exiled any and all Elves that refused to renounce the way of Drow'anar, forcing tens of thousands of his people out of their homes and country... never to return.
Failures & Embarrassments
Thron's efforts were, in retrospect, quite noble and pure in intent but were very poorly planned and enacted. To this day, more than 800 years later, the Elven Realm is still plagued by division and resentment from both sides of the issue. The practice and belief in Drow'anar, while still carrying the penalty of exile or death, is none the less still alive in Naru in the hearts and minds of many powerful Elves.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
From his earliest years, Thron was passionately opposed to the killing, enslavement and persecution of Gnomes and Halflings by Elves. No one is quite sure why this is, however.
Vices & Personality flaws
While always a passionate and dedicated opponent to the Drow'anar worldview, Kel'a Thron was, never the less, quite convinced of his own moral, physical and spiritual superiority over all the rest of his subjects. He did little to no advanced planning in anything that he did as Autarch, choosing instead to simply act immediately on any thought or concept he felt beneficial to his personal view of how Elven society should run. From the ban on the practice or promulgation of Drow'anar to how he conducted himself at his Court or on the battlefield, Thron was far less likely to look at the broader effects his actions might have than he was to simply commit himself (and his Realm) to whatever course he saw as best at that instant in time.
