City Guard

In the Military of Imesse, Guards are a trained and professional group of armed troops employed to keep the peace and defend against attack.  They can be raised and maintained at almost any number of individuals, but are typically not seen in units of less than platoon-size (20-25).   Guards differ from a Watch in that they are better trained and are employed full time by their community or lord.  Guards are expected by long-standing tradition to keep and maintain a standard kit that includes armor, helmet, weapons, clothing and (sometimes) a mount.  The minimum kit typically found in a Guards unit is a steel cuirass and pauldron, greaves, a steel helmet, a cloak, a sword, a dagger/hand axe/pole axe/haulberd, and required under garments.  Less standardized are items like bows/crossbows, full plate, maces, shield and mounts.

Composition

Structure

Platoon-sized Guard units are led by a Sergeant/Corporal of Guards.  Company-sized Guards are led by a Guards Captain.  Multiple companies or regimental sized units would be led by a Lord Commander of Guards.
