Ard Ri (ard rye)
Ard Ri is a title of leadership in the government of Colo. In times of crisis or war, a parliament of local Ryuri rulers can be called to elect a single authoritative figure to rule until the crisis has passed or the war is over. Ard Ri is an equivalent rank to High King over all other kings and is able to commit national resources and efforts at will.
Since the Second Northern War of 213 AF, a movement has existed in Colo to make the office of Ard Ri a permanent and hereditary title over all other Ryuri, uniting the people of Colo under one central authority. Currently, there are three significant candidates for this role: Rory Benroty of the Benroty Clan, Olan Dalnyall of the Dalnyall Clan and Connar Benkory of the Benkory Clan. All three Ryuri see the value in the concept, but only Rory Benroty has made a concerted effort to establish a Colian monarchy over all the clans and tribes of Colo.
