Sekket is an aged but still powerful hobgoblin cleric, belonging to the House of the Mountain Forge. He follows a strict code of personal honour and can be fiercely judgemental, holding others around him to the same exacting standards. Tempered by experience, he resists the more brutish instincts of his race but like most hobgoblins he still sets great store in status, respect and hierarchy. An accomplished blacksmith, Sekket recently created his masterwork: a fine sword blessed by the Forge Spirit Faistus, and now he travels in search of a hero worthy of wielding it.   Sekket’s visage might at first seem monstrous. His brown face is wrinkled and lightly furred to a dull almost-orange colour, his goblinoid nose flatter and wider than that of a human. He is bald save for a jagged scar on his forehead, and sports a scraggly greying beard. His features give the appearance of substantial age, but his eyes are shrewd and full of vigour.   In contrast to his rather rudimentary personal grooming, his splint mail armour looks immaculately well kept. A robust looking metal shield, painted with a grey mountain against a blue sky, is carried on one arm, while a gleaming warhammer dangles from his belt. A keen observer might spot a holy symbol secured to the back of his shield within easy reach: a small iron anvil before a golden mountain, circled with steel. Strapped to his back is a sheathed sword, long but slender, with an elaborate rounded steel hilt that seems to reflect swirls of iridescent light. The blade is tied into its scabbard with a length of black silk.   UPDATE: Sekket was killed in battle during the events of session 17. He was given a send-off in session 18 whereupon the group learned a little more about the elder hobgoblin's untold story. As of writing, Kyto is carrying Sekket's masterwork to continue his quest to find the one destined to wield it.

Trivia:

Sekket has mentioned off-hand that he is married.   Sekket spends his free time making things: he has produced a glaive, a sword, a magical light orb, a cast metal dragon sculpture, and more during his short time with the group.   Archery, throwing weapons, sneaking, lying, stealing, and dealing with fey spirits have all been pronounced dishonourable by the judgemental hobgoblin.   While there’s no word yet on its honourableness, Sekket has apparently sworn off carpentry too. He instead forged a ladder out of metal for Tera’s unexpected basement.   Between smithing, smiting and spellcasting, Sekket has wielded five different hammers so far in the campaign. Woe betide any nails the group stumbles across…

Contacts:

Fellow acolytes of the House of the Mountain Forge.   Gisita, warrior of House Zhao / Emerald Company.   Sekket has mentioned he has a wife. It was unknown who or where she was, but she attended his funeral and introduced herself as Banso, now working as a wandering sellsword.   Banso mentioned that she and Sekket had a son called Keru, but he left the family after years of feuding with his father over his choice to become a warrior instead of a smith. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Gear:

Sekket's Masterwork

Properties unknown.

This sword is simple yet beautifully made. The hilt is bound in plain black rope, and it is tied into an unmarked black scabbard. The sword cannot be drawn without untying it first.   Nothing further is known about the sword at this time.   UPDATE: After Sekket's death, Kyto is now carrying this item.

Moment of Gravitas

Shield, rare, requires attunement.
This round metal-coated shield has three red tassels dangling from its rim. They drift ever so slightly as though in a breeze, even when indoors.   Once per long rest you can use your reaction to bang your weapon against the shield. All creatures and objects within a‭ ‬15‭ ‬ft radius sphere around you must succeed on a DC18‭ ‬Strength saving throw or be pulled up to‭ ‬10‭ ‬ft towards you,‭ ending no closer than 5ft away from you. ‬Creatures with a saving throw result of 10 or less fall prone.‭ ‬L‬arge creatures have advantage on the saving throw,‭ ‬and Huge or larger creatures are not affected.‭   When an enemy's melee attack misses your AC by 2 (as in, the AC bonus offered by the shield), as a free action you can will the tassels of the shield make a grapple check with advantage. As the shield is carrying out the grapple, the cleric does not require a free hand.   UPDATE: After Sekket's death, the group gifted this shield to Sekket's wife Banso, as something to remember him by and protect her.
