Academic Tournament

The academic tournament is a League of Magic sponsored international event. In the first round, the schools select their top students in each age band to compete with the other schools in their country. 
The successful competitors from each country then compete with the champions of other countries to win the world tournament. 
The prizes are usually cash for both the student and their school and victory in the international competition can lead to full university scholarships in any country and the promise of a job working for the League of Magic in the future.
Showing exemplary talent in a specific category, even if you do not win, can get the attention of the covens and can fast track an application to join one as a member and aids in rising through the ranks.

This competition, with different age bands, is open to all students between the ages of 11 and 19 who are studying in schools that participate. Many people compete for the school places which makes it a very challenging tournament to enter however the rewards are very great.
