The Sacking of Shinnaric

A surprise attack on Shinnaric during a time of celebrating freedom. Once the attack began it took merely hours to overcome the defenders and to enslave or kill those that did not managed to escape.

A messenger of Mur arrived at the gates of Shinnaric demanding the subjugation of the city and surrounding region. The Trade Barons, Ompus, Kleatle, and Dabias scoffed at this request and imprisoned the goatman. They each decided that a grand ceremony shall be held, a day of celebrating The Trade Lands and the freedom they gained decades ago. Live performances were held in Shinnaric's large festival square and during the performance of 'Mages Die First' did they present the main attraction of the day. The goatman who boldly declared surrender was brought out to a gallows proudly displayed before the stage. As his body recoiled from his weight an explosion blasted the area killing many and harming more. At this time reports were rolling in that large hostile forces were appearing within the city, unknown to them portals were constructed within the many gardens throughout the city. The beast folk were quick to seize and slaughter many before actual defensive measures were put into place. Mercenary encampments outside the city attempted to gain entrance to thwart the invaders as town guards and levies attempted to hold their positions. Sayters pranced into non combative zones with lyres and flutes, luring those caught off guard with hypnotizing music. Escorting them back to portals for devious uses. Giants that once ruled over the beast now found themselves enslaved, tore apart walls and gates allowing the marauding horde entrance further into the city.   The Barons fled the crown jewel of their kingdom. Ompus boarded his zeppelin and returned to his holding in BridgeFord. Dabias boarded his ship and sailed to his home in The Western Isles. Kleatle's whereabouts are still unknown, his personal levies could be seen transporting his possessions from the city and onto his small fleet of vessels. At this point, Ompus was the only Baron left and acquired the title of Duke of the Trade Lands. With his one goal of reclaiming the city and bringing back the former barons for questioning.
