John was taken to the Feywild along side other males as a mating option for Faylen. He made her laugh witch the other men couldn't so he was chosen, he loved the queen but Faylen didn't love him, he was a mortal who meant only an heir to her throne. He realised this after Ash, their daughter, was born so he took her back to the mortal world to be raised there instead. This coursed the rift between Falylen and him, as well as the queen tried to have him killed a few time.
