As the Vetus continued to gain arcane knowledge they began to create life itself, with the goal of creating species that could act as servants in various capacities.

This led first to the creation of goblins and orcs who were deemed as failures and quickly rebelled against their creators, fleeing into the world.   Ultimately the Vetus created dwarves, who were put to use as builders for the grand cities and towers that still stand today.
