Al Sharaf blades

Nomad Federation artefact

Checking on the Coriolis Discord, I read that the publishers are OK with players recreating tables, figures and data from the RPG source material where the only purpose is the facilitation of playing their game and I hereby promise this is my only intent with this article. The Al Sharaf blades and their stats are from the Coriolis RPG; I have tweaked their history slightly for my own games - Doctor Weather
The Al Sharaf blades are traditional items held by leaders of the most influential Jangahir families. Their name translates to a word with a meaning incorporating 'noble', 'great', 'on-high' and 'leader'. Taken as a prize in some forgotten great battle, they aren’t bought or sold, and theft of an Al-Sharaf blade is punished severely.   Scimitars and daggers were made
It is thought that the blades were always made in pairs, one dagger matching each scimitar, but many families possess only one or the other and it is therefore possible that families with matching blades spread this story only to further their own standing in the Nomad Fleet.   Elegant yet opulent decoration but which doesn't ruin effectiveness
Both types of blade are always richly adorned with gems and woven ribbons. Despite this, the blades are still finely-crafted, even superior, weapons.   Unknown construction that can no longer be replicated
Plasma-forged from some unknown alloy with a passing resemblance to duralite, the blades were crafted by unknown artisans before the Long Night.   Have their own voice and song
Some bearers of Al Sharaf blades claim to be able to hear the voice of their blades. Though the weapons don't actually speak, weilders report being able to sense concepts and feelings coming from their blade, some even claiming the the blades have unique personalities.

On cover image at article creation: Though the image I've used is that of a Sikh weapon - among other differences to the description of the Al Sharaf weapons of Coriolis - I am a little subject to the whims of chance when searching for suitable art on Creative Commons. I will keep looking though.
