Lugh

God of kings

Lugh is a god of rulership, all art and justice. He is skilled with his hands in both craftsmanship and battle and cares deeply for the common people, always reminding small lords and kings who follow him alike to mind their subject.
As a god of justice, his judgement is often swift and merciless with a strict no-nonsense penalty. Ironically Lugh is well known for being a trickster who lies, cheats and steals to win over his opponents in (friendly) games.
  As a god or art who loves games, he has also invented many games with the help of the smaller gods under him. Such games include, but aren't limited to, horse riding, ball-sports, and fidchell (a predecessor of chess).

Divine Domains

His domain is that of rulership, justice and art. Both kings, the court of law and artisans are united in their worship of him.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A silver spear surrounded by lightning striking through the air is the symbol used by Lugh's followers.

Holidays

Lugh's personal holiday is on the 1st of august, Lughnasa, and is a big harvest festival during summer.

Physical Description

Specialized Equipment

Lugh has many magical and unique weapons and other items. The most well-known of which are:

  • The Spear of Assal, one of the Four Jewels of the gods. This spear is unbeatable in battle and can take the form of lightning when thrown. With a word, it hits its mark; with another, it returns to Lugh.
  • His cloich tabaill, or slingshot, wielded in the battle against Balor of the Evil Eye;
  • Fragarach, or “The Answerer,” sword of his foster-father Manannán. The sword would force those it was pointed at to answer questions truthfully;
  • Sguaba Tuinne, the “Wind-sweeper,” a boat of considerable speed;

Social

Family Ties

Lugh is a god of two bloodlines. Before the current gods, excluding the creator gods, took their place there was another tribe of godlike beings who were destroyed during a war between the two. Lugh was born during this war with the two different bloodlines.
Although it isn't known who his biological parents were he was fostered by both Manannán mac Lir, the god of the sea, and the god of smiths, Gavida.

Hobbies & Pets

Lugh has had multiple pets and familiars that included both mortal and immortal creatures. He has had many horses, including the legendary Énbarr of the Flowing Mane, who can travel land and sea. He also has the immortal greyhound Failinis who always catches his prey and assist Lugh in battle. Failinis can also turn water into wine.
