Xalarin

Sentient species whose primary faction is the Xalarin Council.
Because they evolved on a planet with an extremely hot climate, their bodies would not survive living on a colder climate, which most other species would call habitable. The xalarin biochemistry is designed to survive in climates of about 300-350C, their body temperature being about 360. Apart from that, they are also built more bulky than humans. They are noticeably wider, and also quite strong. Xalarins are also silicon based lifeforms.
Due to the very dusty conditions of the Xalarin's homeworld, they must filter dust out of their respiratory tract. This filter exists at the body enterance used for respiration and should be cleaned occasionally, usually daily. The xalarin have large lungs that can allow them enough air to perform all their biological processes despite the filter which creates resistance to air flow. Respiration requires more energy from the xalarin than it does most species because of this. Due to the high dust content, xalarin food is also likely to have a lot of this dust as well, so they have larger livers. The liver releases this material as urine.Due to the high temperature of the atmosphere, the pressure is very high. This allows sound to travel faster through the air, so many species from that planet including the xalarin have larger eares and rely more on sound for perception rather than light, which they lack. The xalarin have a small organ on their head which can create sound, they can hear any sound waves that bounce off nearby objects, which allows them to read indented text, or even identify between 2 different materials. To protect themselves from the extreme heat, the xalarin incorporates metal into their biology in a large scale. They have thin metal 'armour' around several body parts. They also have a partial skkeleton of metal that is designed to radiate heat from the body to the ground as the xalarins foot makes contact with the ground. This only makes contact with the ground when it is needed and is done through a large, hook-like organ which can dig into the ground from the back of the legs.

Genetics and Reproduction

Xalarins have a 2 stage reproduction. Initially, a fetus needs to be created between a male and female. The female must then see a ranal, whos body will also grow an embryo simultaneously and providing the final required DNA to give birth.

Ecology and Habitats

They prefer living near (though not directly next to) flowing lava. This is more for cultural reasons, than for any biological need. Due to this, there are still many communities of Xalarin who live away from flowing lava 'lakes', who often live under different cultures from most.
Their culture enjoys being close to the very hot heat source of lava as it was initially thought to be the blood of one of their gods of ancient times. Although modern science has disproved this, the Xalarin biology and culture got used to it so now many inhabit these areas.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Much of their body heat is provided by the environment. As such, they do not require as much energy, so they have evolved a slower and more efficient metabolism. They do not require as much food as most species of their size.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have 2, large eyes. Although the planet is close to its parent star, a lot of the incoming light is blocked by the thick atmosphere. Therefore, their eyes are designed to capture more light and provide clear vision even in the darker conditions. Their ears are designed to block ingress of dust more effectively, but their hearing capabilities are reduced because of this. Like almost every species, Xalarin can also touch feel, taste and smell The latter of these senses is also reduced, and designed to filter out the smell of sulfur.
