Supercavitating Crossbow

A special type of highly powerful crossbow used by various primitive Suon cultures of both Tebburus and Mauray that is capable of firing underwater.
The bolts that it fires are designed to create an air bubble around itself as it travels. A chemical reaction in the rear of the bolt propels it forwards, so that the weapon does not rely solely on the elastic force of the crossbow itself to fly at high velocity. The Supercavitating Crossbow is designed with a very high degree of power, similar to the Heavy Tension Quadrepetal Crossbow. It is designed to kill megafauna attacking groups of suons. Although water is unstable, all groups need at least 1 individual wielding one of these for protection. The unstable nature of water makes it extremely difficult to use accurately, so they need to be very well trained to dispatch of threats at long distances.
If walking or mounted on on the ocean floor, then it becomes much easier to use effectively. Supercavitating Crossbows can also be upscaled and used on a large mounted platform. These are almost always rooted to the ground and designed to resist the powerful recoil. These weapon platforms are even more powerful than the small arms counterpart, and are powerful enough to not require head shots to kill megafauna in the head.
