Quasar - Class Spacecraft Carrier

A large but very fast spaceborne strikecraft carrier of the Republic of Miasi (AKA Omado Republic).

The Quasar - Class is one of the fastest capital ships that exist in Arcturus. As they can rapidly disengage and retreat, they can become extremely difficult to destroy, especially when escorted by ships that can destroy light ships such as frigates and corvettes very easily. Few weapons can rival the range of a carrier, and missiles can be intercepted. Despite that, missiles are one of the more powerful counters against the Quasar - class, as are Subspatial Starship. Its high speed also allows it to perform evasive maneuvers more effectively and allows it to reposition quickly.

The Quasar comes equipped with a relatively small fighter hangar in comparison to other carriers of its size, in order to create enough internal room to place the engines. It also has no weapons mounted to its exterior other than a small number of CIWS turrets intended for destroying enemy missiles or spacecraft that come close, but that role is intended to be filled by dedicated point defence frigates.

The fighters are also equipped with very high power engines and AI assisted pilots. The AI can detect incoming projectiles and perform efficient evasive maneuvers. It is possible for the pilot and AI to interface with each other, able to pass thoughts to each other and read their state of mind. This gives them an incredible speed, but due to the costs of this technology they are able to fit less armament than other faction fighters. However they can also disengage back to the carrier faster due to having a faster speed. Miasan forces continue to have trouble against enemies with instantaneous weapons such as large, high power lasers. 

The largest sections of the ship internally are taken up by vital systems (e.g. reactors), the large engines and the hangar. Upon being hit with a large enough round, one of these systems is likely to be damaged as the ship has little armour to improve its speed. Due to this, Quasar - class captains tend to be very careful with their ship but it can serve a far more aggressive role if needed. They rarely take on this role despite the aggressive nature of the Omadan doctrine as the Quasar - class is quite large and expensive to field.
