Lot'rel't Shotgun

A large, powerful shotgun used by the Sulethis Republic.
The shotgun has an extremely high muzzle velocity compared to other shotguns in service. This is mostly because the weapon is actually a coilgun. Railguns are a SR specialty, and they have been able to apply that to coilguns as well. The very large currents that are run through the coils mean that the pellets have huge forces act on them. This immense velocity can make the weapon very brutal, usually the pellets will pass entirely through a biological target's body entirely and still continue. Against light armour, it can still be devastating as the pellets are made to be hard enough to penetrate. They are not hard enough to penetrate heavy armour directly though, and will just vaporize against the hull of heavy armour such as tanks.
The power supply for the shotgun can be quite heavy though, so it is usually mounted in the backpack of the user. This makes the backpack heavier, so the lot'rel't usually serves a more defencive role, but can be used effectively in offence. A second version designed for vehicle use is also common and suffers few mobility drawbacks.It also has a surprisingly fast fire rate but this would make it highly inaccurate. It is then usually used on a slower mode unless mounted in a vehicle where that is no problem.
