Lightweight Bolt Crossbow

The lightweight bolt crossbows are very small ranged weapons. They are perhaps the smallest weapon of their time, being usable with just a single hand similar to modern pistols. They are also much more agile than Heavy Tension Quadrepetal Crossbows, as they are also magazine fed. Due to clever engineering, the makers of the bolts pack all the energy necessary to fire the bolt within the bolt itself, so the crossbow can achieve an extremely high fire rate - significantly higher than any other weapon for its time - as the operator only needs to keep pulling the trigger to fire multiple bolts in a row. They typically come with a magazine size of 6, which allows them to dispatch of multiple smaller threats nearby.
However, it lacks the sheer power of the heavy tension quadrupetal crossbow. Due to this, one should not rely on a lightweight bolt crossbow to kill megafauna as it likely wont.
The weapon itself is always skillfully built by very clever craftsmen, who use very high quality materials to craft these weapons. Primitive suon cultures place a very high importance on quality of these weapons, as suon lives very often depend on them. If it breaks, it could result in death to not only the wielder, but to an entire party of explorers. Apprentices can learn the craft under the eyes of a practiced craftsman, but they need to be taught to work on an incredible standard.
