Karalak - Class Destroyer

Like most GAE starships, the Karalak class is relatively cheap and mas produced, attempting to challenge designs of other, more advanced, factions by virtue of sheer numbers. The Karalak is designed to engage enemy destroyers in swarms. As such, they mainly rely on evasive maneuvers to avoid enemy fire and are built with speed in mind. It has visibly large RCS thrusters, powerful enough to change its course in a short time. It is also armed with an array of large, powerful plasma cannons and railguns. Some of these fire EMP ammunition in attempts to reduce the technological disadvantage.
It is however quite unpopular with its crews as they are rushing towards a technologically superior foe with little armour. The GAE has received complaints, but they continue constructing and using Karalaks anyway. This has become such a large issue that any individuals that are relegated to one often hold rituals where they say what might be their final goodbye to family and friends. It is thought that about 1 third of all crew sent on missions with it are killed in action.
