Guardian Five

A Freelancer Starship aligned to the HF and about the size of a Hypertriton - Class Battleship.

Guardian Five has almost completely devoted itself to the protection and advancement of the Hyperion people. They are a relatively large freelancer. However, despite surface appearances, they are not entirely mechanical. Guardian Five intentionally supports organisms which support it's versatility and perform much of the Freelancer's computation. These organisms resemble strands of a semi-plantlike material, and are incredibly advanced. They are able to rival the immense computational output of HF Quantum Computing Devices, making use of a similar method of operation despite their organic nature. This also gives Guardian Five the ability to expand their computation further by growing more of the organism. It is also very well reinforced with high tensile biological materials, so it should not be harmed in extremely high-g maneuvers common to freelancers. In order to support organic life, it requires oxygen and various other materials but also releases different materials. These are transported as matter plasma to and from the HF using Teleporters.

Due to it's immense effectiveness in battle, Guardian Five is one of the better known freelancers. With thousands of enemy ships of the CD, HM, XC, GAE and other factions, the superiority and potential of Freelancers is clear. Many theorize that Freelancers could be the future of warfare.

Due to its hyperintelligence, Guardian Five also often takes up the role of a commander, taking command of a large amount of HF forces during a war. This way, this singular character can influence wars on a larger scale, perhaps contributing to it's fame.

The Guardian prefers to focus a large amount of firepower at a single target. It has most of its primary weapons on the top and bottom of it's body, allowing it to focus fire on any target near a flat plane relative to itself, forward and towards both flanks. Few ships short of a titan or larger can withstand such a crippling amount of firepower, giving the Guardian a relatively anti-heavy role. They are always escorted by smaller, regular ships so it gets fewer of the disadvantages of such a doctrine, and gives it's own side some very heavy support firepower.

The notion that an enemy could flank Guardian Five from the top or bottom is practically null when the Freelancer can rotate itself extremely quickly in order to engage any enemy that could be attempting to flank it. It's engines can also vector, which improves its maneuverability substantially, so in practice Guardian Five may be able to target many enemies at different locations at once. As a freelancer, its armour is also very strong which makes it incredibly difficult to damage. It requires a large antimatter reactor though, and consumes a lot of antimatter relative to other freelancers.

Guardian Five was built originally as a freelancer, though a much smaller freelancer, and partially as an experiment with freelancers. They became empathetic to the organics that created it, understanding their will to survive against larger enemy factions such as the CD and HM, and will fight for the continued survival of the HF no matter the cost.
