Battle of Fortress RN-85-B
Battle between Alti Dominion and Republic of Miasi (AKA "Omado") on the Precursor Dyson Sphere on the Alti - Omado Front.
This particular fortress was located on a large hill and originally occupied by Alti Dominion forces. The fortress had many large, Time-Dilated railguns with a very high fire rate.
These positions were bombarded with advanced cannons of Omado artillery forces. Many of these railgun positions were lost. Omado then sent light tanks to destroy the rest. exploiting their high speed to evade railgun fire, they achieved that objective albeit with heavy losses. The fortress was a large emlpacement, and placed on a critical location. The Alti railguns would penetrate Omado armour relatively easily, with their high fire rates. Sheer volume of fire would destroy most of the Omadan infantry so they relied mainly on light tanks. This fortress protected a large area of Alti cities on the Dyson Sphere. They attempted to destroy part of the Dyson sphere that the fortress was placed on as the Miasi attacked the area. These attempts were not sucessful, as precursor archaeotech materials are very strong. They have attempted several methods. The Omado forfes made use of air vehicles, also designed for extreme speed and maneuver ability. Their hypermaneuberable aircraft are fast enough to harm or even kill most organics piloting it. As such, they make use of unmanned drones to withstand the incredible g-forces. They made use of these types of aircraft to evade a large amount of Alti railgun fire. Many were still destroyed due to sheer volume of fire. This also meant that the aircraft were more reliant on electronics so the Alti made use of ewar to destroy a number of aircraft. The Alti launched their own counteroffensive air force in attempts to destroy invading armies and the Miasi air force. This was also recently successful but the Omado aircraft gave them aerial superiority. In the aftermath of the battle, the Alti learned to make more use of mobile defences which would have been able to avoid the artillery. They also improved the fire control systems of the AA batteries in order to better counter the very rapid acceleration aircraft. The Omado learned to improve the materials of their armour so that they could still move quite fast but also take hits. If they took this into account initially, they might have suffered fewer casualties.
