Time Dilation Device TDD

Devices used by the Alti Dominion to slow down the passage of time. These are used primarily to give the appearance of many weapons firing at very high fire rates. These work by projecting a graviton field in the effected area. As, according to general relativity, apparent time will pass at slower rates within a very intense gravitational field.

Utility

TDDs are used primarily to improve the effective fire rates of most starship grade weapons. However, as it is a commonly used technology (within the military), they ahve been used for other tasks. They experiment with toughening armour, by making an impact happen over a longer time. There are crazy theorists in the Dominion populace that say TDDs might allow time travel. They do not however.

Manufacturing

The technology is complex to manufacture, requiring many different resources. As such, there are a large number of steps to manufacture a TDD. Many of them involes enslaving Alti - conquered species.

Access & Availability

Very commonly used by the entire Alti military. They are also a military secret, so most people dont know how they work.

Discovery

The TDD was one of the few technologies obtained from reverse - engineering archaeotech in the Supreme Alti System. Military starshi pdesigners saw the potential in isuch a technology - and exploited it.
